We were very proud this month to receive recognition in the Brixworth Parish Council Awards for Local Business Excellence.
The judges kindly said: “MSE has been a long-standing supporter of the community, consistently providing a high-quality, responsive and friendly service.
“They have also installed defibrillator cabinets free of charge. The team frequently offers cost-saving advice to local facilities rather than recommending unnecessary replacements.”
Team effort
Thanks go to our dedicated team, which deserves recognition for professionalism and commitment to quality work and the local community.
Of course, it was also a good opportunity to raise a glass to our loyal customers, who ensure MSE can keep providing excellent service.
It’s all thanks to the exceptionally high standards set by our founder, Jim Lockhart. He completed his apprenticeship as an electrician in Northampton back in 1970.
He went on to work on some major local projects including Kettering General Hospital, the University of Northampton and Wellingborough Swan Centre. He then moved on to Humberside to work on petro-chemical installations.
When he returned to Northamptonshire in 1988, he saw a need for industrial and commercial electrical maintenance. That's when he established Maintenance Services Electrical.
He has always been a keen supporter of electrical apprenticeships and the company’s directors served their apprenticeships with MSE.
We’re constantly updating our skills, and the team regularly attends City and Guilds courses. We believe training, quality, professionalism and a strong team spirit are the main reasons our customers enjoy working with us. We've been supporting some of our original customers for over 35 years now.
Keeping up the MSE tradition
As part of MSE’s commitment to maintaining strong local connections we’ve been members of Business Networking International (BNI) for many years. One of our Directors, Tom Lockhart, is a long-standing member of BNI Prosperity in Kettering. At the 2026 BNI Charity Gala awards night he received recognition as Networking Chapter Member of the Year.
Please get in touch if you have a community project in mind and would like some electrical installation, maintenance or safety advice.
