It was good to meet George Clarke at CEF Live.
We treated ourselves to a day out at the City Electrical Factors (CEF) Live show at the National Exhibition Centre.

We attended some informative TechTalks, visited interesting trade stands, and met celebrities too.

It’s always good to keep up to date with all the latest products and technology available.

Here are just some of the interesting things we discovered

CEF Live is one of the biggest electrical events in the UK. It’s popular with all sorts of electrical contractors and industry professionals. As well as meeting TV personality George Clarke, professional darts player, Mark Dudbridge, took on all-comers for games of 301/501. World Darts Champion Phil Taylor also signed autographs and posed for some selfies.

But, back to business; here are some interesting themes.
Recycling. New manufacturing processes could help to make recycled materials into new PVC-U trunking to reduce carbon emissions.

Skills. Sustainability was an important focus of this year’s CEF event. Skills development and cross-industry cooperation featured in the TechTalks. There were some interesting expert-led panels and practical demonstrations. Overall, there was recognition that new sustainable approaches need more cooperation between wholesalers, manufacturers, and the whole supply chain. It’s certainly a complicated subject and there’s still a long way to go.

Measurement. Staying with the sustainability theme, there’s support for suppliers from partnerships with organisations like EcoVadis. For example, scorecards help them to understand their impact and improve their practices.
It's always good to see a McLaren F1 racing car up close.
There was plenty to see and do at the CEF Live 2025 show.

Take-home messages

Overall, the whole event made it clear that everyone needs to work together. Events like CEF Live help to bridge the gap between small suppliers and leading manufacturers.

Investment in education and training will help bring everyone up to speed with rapidly changing requirements and regulations. Ongoing skills shortages also highlight the need for improved professional development.

The event also saw the launch of a new online learning platform to provide accredited content and live sessions for remote learning.
This was good to see, as the team at MSE continues its long-standing commitment to training, quality, and professionalism.

We’re looking forward to the next event in 2027.
