AIT Home Delivery recently launched an in-demand warehousing depot in Enfield London. The facility was developed to support booming demand across London and the Southeast to strengthen their ability to deliver effective final-mile logistics services.
Maintenance Service Electrical were tasked with an ambitious project. The Enfield logistics depot required a full-scale electrical fit-out across industrial and commercial environments, delivered to a demanding schedule. A project like this would require careful coordination and sustained effort from the MSE team.
Understanding the Logistics Infrastructure
The electrical fit-out needed to support a motivated project. The Enfield depot will play a key role in supporting a wide array of AIT Home Delivery services. To provide a variety of delivery options as well as assembly and installation services, and packaging removal requires a versatile site.
With demand for logistics services continuing to rise, the facility has been designed to operate efficiently at scale. The electrical infrastructure needed to bolster and support a reputable and reliable solution for customers and partners.
Intelligent Warehouse Lighting Installation
Central to the project is the installation of a contemporary warehouse lighting system. This modern solution includes intelligent sensor controls that best use natural daylight and energy-saving automation in unoccupied areas.
The result is a sustainable environment that supports green initiatives and long-term cost savings. Safety and visibility throughout the site was important, and wasn’t compromised by the installation or design.
Safety Systems and 24-Hour Operation
AIT Home Delivery, importantly, prioritised safety and compliance in their brief. The MSE team prioritised them throughout the installation. Emergency escape route lighting was strategically installed across the entire site to ensure clear guidance in the event of an emergency.
The depot, externally, benefits from a complete redesign. As the depot operates around the clock, it required safe and consistent illumination from floodlighting.
Office, Welfare, and Staff Facilities
Whilst the transport, warehousing, and other high-traffic areas required the bulk of the consideration, the project also included a full electrical fit-out of the new transport office. Maintenance Services Electrical installed power poles, dado trunking, and LED lighting to create a practical and sustainable workspace.
The first-floor office space has also been upgraded with new LED lighting, sensor controls, and emergency lighting. These improvements enhance both energy efficiency and the overall working environment for staff.
Staff welfare areas are fully equipped. The employee canteen area enjoys a complete power and heating installation. New toilet facilities are fitted with heating, lighting, and hygienic hand dryers. These additions provide a hardworking and dedicated logistics team with a functional and comfortable environment.
Infrastructure to Power Logistics Operations
Dedicated power supplies were installed for debrief benches alongside infrared heaters for the colder months. Charing stations for powered pallet trucks and forklifts have also been installed to help AIT Home Delivery remain operational at all times.
The wider installation includes site-wide power for CCTV, fire alarms, and IT infrastructure. The project delivered an operationally astute environment that is fully integrated and secure.
Delivered on Time Through Team Effort
AIT Home Delivery’s ambitious project created a demanding programme that required close coordination from the MSE Team. But the team were up to the task and delivered the full-scale electrical fit-out on schedule. The successful completion of the Enfield project highlights the conscientious commitment of all involved.
