Maintenance Services Electrical: Where it all began

Jim Lockhard retired electrician and company founder
I originally completed my apprenticeship as an electrician in Northampton back in 1970. I went on to work on some major local projects including Kettering General Hospital, the University of Northampton and Wellingborough Swan Centre before heading up to Humberside to work on petro-chemical installations. When I returned to Northamptonshire I saw a niche in the market for industrial and commercial maintenance and that's why I started Maintenance Services Electrical in 1988.

I'm convinced that electrical apprenticeships are still a great way to learn your trade and I am delighted that all the permanent members of our team served their electrical apprenticeships with us and have chosen to stay.

We are constantly updating our skills and the team regularly attends City and Guilds update courses. I firmly believe that this commitment to training, quality, professionalism and a strong team spirit are the main reasons why our customers enjoy working with us. We've been working with some of our original customers for almost 35 years now.

I firmly believe that this commitment to training, quality, professionalism and a strong team spirit are the main reasons why our customers enjoy working with us. We've been working with some of our original customers for almost 35 years now.More importantly, we listen and have great communication with them, which means we can quickly come up with a solution to pretty much any electrical challenge.

I am now disgracefully retired but am always avaialble if any of the team have questions I can help with. I now spend most of my time in Cornwall with my wife, Jane, who is also enjoying her well-deserved retirement after working with me for over 30 years! I like to be in the wild outdoors and especially fishing and shooting.
