Parcels are going missing from doorsteps all over the country
Have you had a parcel stolen from your front door, porch or garden? It’s an increasing problem across the UK, according to a recent report from The Times

Thousands of parcels worth hundreds of pounds are disappearing in moments. According to one retail software company claims for missing parcels increased by almost 60% in the year to June.
The Police say the number of reported doorstep thefts doesn’t represent the full scale of the problem. Many people simply contact the sellers or delivery companies, rather than the police.

How to prevent doorstep thefts

The first step is to book deliveries for times when someone is at home. Or, you can ask a trusted neighbour to take in your parcel or arrange collection from a local store.

Another option is to install security lighting and a smart Wi-Fi doorbell. Many of these capture a video record of activity on your doorstep. You can also speak to people via an app on your smartphone, even when you’re not at home. This can be a useful deterrent for anyone who might consider stealing your parcels.

Some options provide high resolution images and live views so you’ll always know what’s happening. You can receive a notification when someone rings your doorbell and images can be stored in case you need them.

For reliability, many of these doorbells benefit from a fixed power supply so you won’t need to recharge or replace the batteries.

Please get in touch if you would like to install a smart doorbell or extra security lighting at home to keep your parcels safe this winter.
